Emily Escobosa, an Elmira High School senior, is the 2005 Interstate Games Junior Polebending champion. The 17-year-old equestrian won with a time of 20.658 seconds at the recent 49th Interstate meet at the Oregon Horse Center north of Eugene. The annual competition matches the 10 best riders from both Oregon and Washington in a variety of events. Emily, the daughter of Lambert and Deborah Escobosa of Elmira, maintains a 3.8 GPA and rode to victory aboard Ragin Cajun Jack, a 19-year-old Quarter Horse gelding owned by trainer and coach Annette Kuhlmann. Escobosa has competed with the Oregon High School Equestrian Teams program for three years.

Jacob Juge riding Ragin Cajun Jack holds the Oregon High School Equestrian Team Polebending record with a time of 20.67 which was ran at the Lane County Fair Grounds on Feb. 13, 1999. The record still stands today. Way to go Jacob and Jack!
