Hi, my name is Annie. I’m 49 years old. I’ve been riding since I was 15 years old. I was in a pretty serious horse wreck 3 years ago and was afraid to ride. I hadn’t been willing to part with my 5 horses and my friend kept encouraging me to “find a trainer” and get back on. She introduced me to Annette almost a year ago.
Annette’s patience and cheerleading made all the difference. My doctor felt strongly that I needed my horse. He really felt that I needed to use the horse to facilitate complete healing and Annette believed that to be the case as well.
In spite of being scared to death, the other issue was my handicap. I had no strength in my left arm. I had blown out my elbow and had to have it reconstructed with titanium. I was barely using it, much less hauling myself up into a saddle with it.
As soon as I began riding, (on a lunge line with Annette at the other end) Annette started noticing a problem for my horse. With her help we began getting him corrected as well. I felt terrible at first, it had never occurred to me that he had been in the same wreck and needed to recover physically and emotionally as well. He’s scars weren’t visible and he didn’t need surgery but he still had injuries.
Annette has been a blessing for both Sundance (my horse) and me. She has such patience!! She is so skilled at “seeing” the picture of what the horse and rider should be.
I had been riding for years, but never with as balanced a seat as I have now!! I’ve been on a few trail rides and my confidence grows with every lesson. I even started bringing my grandchildren, Melanie who is 7 and Kahlan who is 3. Kahlan rides Mini-me and both grandchildren have grown in confidence on AND off the horse.
Annette is always balancing the rider and the horse. I will continue under her guidance for a long time. My confidence is coming back, AND my strength in my arm is back (I can pull myself into my saddle now!). I feel like I didn’t get my old self back like the Doctor was hoping, I feel like the real me has surfaced, in all areas of my life, my self-confidence, my balance, my strength, my core. I hadn’t realized how the wreck had impacted my entire life, not just my ability to ride a horse. I had become a recluse, introverted, afraid of anything un-known or new. All of that has changed! Annette is a healing facilitator, not a trainer! I HIGHLY recommend her to everyone, whether they have never been on a horse or whether they have been riding for years.

Hi,
I can tell you what I know about Horse Central and the people and horses there. Yes, it is what it says it is !! It is a friendly and respectful barn. It is a diverse barn, both in the people; their ages, the types of horses they ride, (ponies, AQHA, Arabians ...) and also the deciplines they ride. Western, English, novice to experienced. One thing I can say is, that unlike other barns I have been around, there isn't alot of big drama and issues. It is very HARMONIOUS there. It feels good to be there. The people get along, as do the horses. The horses are well cared for and are allowed to be horses. I also like the way options are offered. (including discounts). One thing I can say is, the Manager, Annette, is very fair. That is just my opinion on the barn part. There is an added bonus in my book. That is the other services Annette offers. She is very knowledgeable, and is very gifted with horses and people. It is amazing how she can bring you and your horse together. I have had many " ah ha" moments through her instruction and guidance. I think Horse Central is a great place to board, learn, and have fun. Why do you seem so skepatable about it ?? It sounds like maybe you have not been as lucky as me, at finding your niche. If you are a positive, fun loving person, Go & check it out. Hope this helps answer your questions. Feel free to reply.
Sincerely, SJ

Horse Central and the facilities and training.
I have had one of my horses boarded there, one horse in training with Annette and currently my granddaughter is taking lessons from Annette. My granddaughter is 9 and has been taking weekly lessons with Annette for the past year. Annette is a very knowledgable and caring instructor. She patiently works with you until you successfully accomplish the given task.
Annette has been my instructor for the past two years on a weekly basis and both my horse and I have become quite the accomplished team. I am a more confident, centered and balanced rider.
The facilities are great if you need to board your horse. What I like most is the fact that turnout is available and your horse can be a horse on approximately 40+ acres socializing with other horses - not stuck in a stall. The facilities are always neat and tidy (yes, everyone is expected to clean up after themselves). As a boarder you also have access to a wooded trail area and fields to ride your horses in.
Your horse will truly be in good hands with knowledgable persons looking after their daily needs. It is a friendly enviroment and we like to have fun with our horses.
Sincerely,
SH
